  • DIY Plumbing- Unclogging Drains

Plumbing issues are common at homes and clogged drains are the most common plumbing problem faced by a home owner. But it is not that difficult to fix as it sounds. Below are some easy methods that you can try yourself before calling a professional plumber.

To start with, a good idea is to use a combination of baking soda and vinegar instead of a harsh liquid drain cleaner. If there is standing water in the sink try to remove as much of it as possible.

Then pour about 1/2 cup of baking soda into the drain followed by 1/2 cup of vinegar. When these two react together they will create a foaming action that will loosen many clogs.

If the above method does not work, try using a plunger. Before using a plunger make sure that the sink or the tub is filled with water as it works best with it. Also, do block the overflow opening of the sink otherwise your efforts would be wasted.

To start with, a good idea is to use a combination of baking soda and vinegar instead of a harsh liquid drain cleaner. If there is standing water in the sink try to remove as much of it as possible.

After clearing the removed water, pour around half cup of baking soda and the same quantity of vinegar after that. Leave them for sometime and let them mix. When these two react together they will create a foaming action that will loosen many clogs.

If this does not work you will have to resort to more aggressive measures. One simple method is to use a regular bathroom plunger. When plunging make sure you have enough water in the sink to fully cover the plunger. Also be sure to cover the overflow opening in the sink or tub, because if you do not, much of the plunging pressure will be lost through that opening.

  • The plasma television is a relatively new type of television, with a flat screen display. It works by having a mixture of different noble gases in small compartments behind a panel of glass. The plasma TV derives its name from the reaction in which these noble gases are turned into plasma, which emits light and forms the display you see. Plasma TV’s are often compared to LCD’s (liquid crystal displays), another type of flat screen television that uses liquid crystals in front of backlighting or fluorescent tubes to produce images.

Plasma televisions (and flat screen TVs in general) are extremely easy to handle. Due to their very nature, plasmas are flatter than traditional televisions (also called CRTs) and thus, are lighter as well. Currently averaging 5 inches in width and 100 pounds, their size will soon be reduced to an inch in width and 45 pounds. This lack of bulk has heralded in a new era of television placement; consumers can now mount their plasmas on the wall without worrying about ruining the wall.

  • How To Prevent Winter Injury

Winter injury in herbaceous and woody perennials may be caused by a number of things. One factor is that many of the plants go into winter in a “green” or immature condition. This is caused when plants receive too much moisture during the late part of the season. If it is due to too much rainfall, not much can be done about it, but if artificial watering is practiced, it should be reduced at this season. Hence it is good advice not to overwater perennials too much at this time of the year, so that maturity is encouraged.

This applies as well to deciduous shrubs and trees, and evergreens. The drier period during the fall starts certain chemical changes in the plant so that they are better prepared to stand cold weather when winter sets in. This does not mean that the plants should go into the winter in a very dry condition. At about the time light frosts occur, a thorough watering of all perennial plants will help to put them in better condition for winter survival.

  • Online Garden Tools And Bookshelf

To get the most out of your landscape and garden you must continue to learn. Online resources and garden encyclopedia won’t do you much good lying on a shelf. The encyclopedias of the best gardeners I know are well thumbed and well worn. You will, of course, turn to your “garden bible” and more people are going online for their information whenever you are confronted with a particular horticultural problem and, in most cases, you will find a complete answer or at least obtain much help.

But cultivate, too, the habit of taking the time and reading at other times, when no special problem is puzzling you. You will find much of absorbing interest and will gain a wealth of knowledge in that way. Furthermore, you will get to know your encyclopedia, so that when trouble does come you will remember much that you have absorbed in casual reading and will know just where to look for further enlightenment.

  • How to Cut Your Mowing Time Significantly

For most people, you have to spend a lot of time maintaining your lawn in order to keep in a very good and attractive condition. That means you have to do a lot of mowing, pruning, and landscaping modifications and that really takes away a significant amount of your time. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you can spend less time tending to your lawn and still keep it beautiful?

If you mow less, the most obvious result is that the grass would grow longer than usual. If you mow twice a week and cut it down to once a week, the grass would grow about two inches. But see, there is no significant difference in height, which is a good thing. And you also cut your mowing time by 50%.

Another good thing about letting your grass grow is that the roots also go deeper into the soil. This helps in keeping the grass healthy since it is getting more nutrients from the soil. Healthier grass in turn are more beautiful and easy to maintain.

  • Self-adornment by making use of flowers was quite common before people started to flaunt metal jewellery. For ages, people have used flowers with vibrant colours and scents to enhance their attractiveness. In most ancient civilizations, wearing flowers in the hair or around other parts of the body was regarded as a critical aspect of self-adornment, and even males were known to do this.

No two flowers have an identical fragrance. Humans have identified flowers according to different emotions or states of mind and also to different events that the flowers best represent, and to a great extent this has been determined by their scent and looks. The distinctiveness of their scents has allowed perfume makers down the ages to come up with a huge variety of products, each unique in its own way. However, synthetically manufactured perfumes that are developed from non-organic compounds have now filled the market, and flowers are hardly being utilized in the manufacturing process.
