To begin with, drain out all the water from the tank. Allow the tank to dry both from the inner and outer side. In order to even the affected surface, scrape it with the 100 grit sandpaper. This is done to make the area suitable to apply the epoxy.

Furthermore, clean the surface with a clean cloth. This will clear all the dirt and dust from the leaky area. Surface cleaning is very essential so as to affix the epoxy appropriately.

Next step is to mix the epoxy thoroughly as instructed in the instruction booklet. Apply it on the leaky part of the plastic water tank. Leave the set up for at least 20 minutes. This will harden the epoxy and will help in effective fixing of the leak.

In cases where the hole or the crack is large, place a fiberglass mesh over the affected area and then apply the epoxy. This will fill in the hole more efficiently and quickly.

Having applied the solvent to fix the hole, check the tank for further leaks and fissures. For this fill the tank with water. If the leak still persist, repeat the process again. For a perfectly alright tank, empty the tank and allow it to dry before refilling it.
