I love Granny Smith, and have been trying to grow them, but with poor results. Guess they need lots and lots of sun.

Interesting article. I never heard about Fuji Apples too. It got me the idea to plant some apple trees according to their color in my garden.

My personal eating favorite was the New Zealand Gala for years until I moved to California and started buying wonderful Fuji's at the farmer's market. Where I live now is cold and hard to get a good apple, but T&T Seeds carries some nice cold hardy early apple varieties.

I never heard of the Fuji apple tree, the way you described the yellow greenish skin with the red stripes makes me want to try some of them apples out though.

Well, although there are a lot of options regarding apples now (thanks to genetic engineering), many people still are not too sure about the total "greenliness" regarding genetic engineering.

Many researches are still going about long term health and environmental risks of genetically engineered crops and other fruits.

I personally am not a big fan of these kinda unnatural products. I usually choose the plants for my garden which are totally unmodified.

Anyway i am not quite deeply knowledgeable about these things, so my opinions might have some wrongs involved.
