Nowadays, each and every region of the globe relies on electricity directly or indirectly. Electricity would not spare you at all if it faces a major irregularity. Never turn your back on the preventive measures that have to be taken in order to avoid electrical accidents.

The major victims of electrical accidents are children as it is in their nature to inspect each and everything. This nature sometimes puts them in trouble. Under the influence of their excitement, they poke their fingers or some metal item in the sockets. To avoid such mishaps, always cover up all your open sockets that are within the reach of children. This will ensure the safety of the infant members of the family.

Make sure that any of the electrical sockets or extension cords does not get overloaded. The continuous usage of such fixtures may lead to an overload. Check for any unpleasant smell that may be a sign of overload as well. Moreover, if the electrical wire is getting hot regularly then an overload could be in sight. Generally, fire spreads due to such overloaded electrical fixtures.

Moisture or water is the biggest foe of electrical appliances and fittings. The reason for this is that water shorts the electrical circuit and makes it junk. It is always advised to maintain a distance of about ten feet between water source and electrical appliances.

Install the safety receptacles like ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI) in wet areas such as bathroom, laundry room, kitchens etc. Do not forget to test them at regular intervals, say once in a month.

Running a number of appliances at a time would create a mess. Due to excess load, the fuse blows and the life of appliances shortens considerably. Never try to repair the old frayed cords with electrical tape and always try to replace them. Check the internal wiring once in every ten years. The job of inspection must be done under the surveillance of an expert. If some old torn wires are located then replace them with immediate effects.

Using many small appliances simultaneously can create a chaos. It would end up blowing the electric fuses. Moreover, the integrity of the appliance also suffers a setback. Examine the internal wiring setup of the home in every ten years. If you notice weary or broken wires then replace them with immediate effect. Never try to fix them with the help of electrical tape.

Do not risk your life as electricity compromises with nobody.
