Without roof the existence of the house is not possible as it provides shelter from heat, cold and rain. To keep your roof running for years, it requires proper inspection and maintenance at regular intervals. These regular inspections and maintenance works will keep your roof up to date.

First of all, check the roof from ground for any kind of leak or tear. When you are done with the inspection work from the ground, make arrangements to reach to the top of roof. A ladder can be handy in such cases and check for any leak or wear-tear there. While inspecting, avoid walking on the roof as there may be some hollow spots present on the roof which can put you in trouble.

Check for the loose, curled or cracked shingles and if found one, replace it without more ado. Carefully inspect the shingles on the edge of the roof and where the chance of standing water is more. Check for the gloss of the mineral coated shingles and if it is getting dull then it is time to replace it.

Especially check the areas close to the vents and chimneys as they contain joints and therefore, chances of leaks are high there. Remove the threat of accumulating or standing water as standing water could lead to easy seepages and leaks.

Your gutter or drainage system should be sound enough to drain freely during heavy rain. If it is defective then overflow of water can wash down the siding of the home. On noticing the leaks around edges, check the gutter system of the roof because there could be a leak in that area.

When finished inspecting the outside of the home, move inside the house and check for leaks there. Closely inspect the attic area and also the ceiling and the insulation work. Remove any kind of leaks with a high priority.

Always perform your inspection work with proper attention and safety. When using ladder, do not show a careless nature as you are working on an altitude. Spring and autumn is the most preferable season for this inspection work.

Always respond instantly on finding a problem in your roof.
