A lot of people want to update their bathrooms, but they aren’t sure of how to go about doing it. Bathroom renovation is no longer just for big, fancy baths. You can update your bath’s look without taking out all the fixtures and moving electrical outlets.

Most people have small bathrooms, and what they use them for is very specific. Smaller baths are more intimate by nature, but most don’t use them as a place to unwind. Most baths are strictly utilitarian, designed with a minimum of “fluff” and a maximum of efficiency.

That will make the room seem cozy and comforting, but most people don’t go into the bathroom to relax, do they? This results in most bathrooms sacrificing form for the sake of function. If it isn’t possible to add on to the bath to increase its size, you can try some different designs to give the illusion of increased area.

Try getting rid of the larger things like vanities and open countertops, and replace them with smaller stuff like a pedestal sink. Some don’t have the means to expand their bathrooms, but for those there are various design options and tricks to make that normally cramped space feel more airy.

Maybe use bathroom tiles that go from ceiling to floor, or pick striped wallpaper.Create visual depth by adding some type of border at the top of your walls, closest to the ceiling. Mirrors can add the illusion of size because of their reflective properties. Use lighting in conjunction with the mirrors- perhaps put a fixture or two above your bathroom mirror.
