Some homeowners get excited on the idea of handling a plumbing task on their own. However, they face the harsh reality of the trade when they actually put their hands in the job. Even they fail to cut the plumbing pipes in a right manner. Such scenario results due to some misapprehension on their part. Hence, the task of plumbing is always complicating and one has to carry the required knowledge before handling a complex project.
Improper cutting operation of PVC pipes leads to uncalled delay in the project. However, when it comes to the cutting of the copper pipes then the things get risky. A false move could take a toll on the well-being of the homeowner. In addition, the improper cutting operation takes a considerable amount of time to fix. However, right logic complemented by a right set of tools could save the day for you. In addition, keep the assistance of an expert at your disposal throughout the operation.
A successful cutting operation relies heavily on accurate measurements and calculations. Incorrect figures would not match with the real time scenario and hence, it would lead to an unsuccessful cutting operation. Hence, take the dimensions of the pipe that needs to be cut. Include the measurements of the pipe connectors and fittings as well. Once you have the figures at your disposal, move to the work site and tag the section of pipe that needs to be removed.
Take the pipe in your one hand and the cutting tool in your other hand. Make sure that the other hand is placed away from the vicinity of the sharp blade.
The knob located on the body of the cutter tool controls the sharpness of the cutter blade. Use low sharpness for the flexible pipes and high sharpness for the rigid copper pipes. It is always advisable to start off the operation with a low sharpness of the blade. Initiate the operation along the tagged line only.
To cut the pipe with some effectiveness, rotate the cutter around the concerned length of pipe. Go only a half-turn and follow it up by tightening the blade. Tighten the knob only when the blade loosens.
Keep repeating the procedure until the pipe gets dissociated from the rest of the length.
Remove the cut pipe from the fixture and observe the inner side of the depleted length of existing pipe. Clean the inside of the pipe with a piece of cloth.
